why is my license renewal period short this time?

Steve gets this question A LOT from transcribers!

You usually need a new license key after 6 months.  If it's giving you fewer months all of a sudden, here's why:

TypeWell auto-adjusts the license periods to allow you to transfer your license to a temporary computer while yours is in the shop.  So a shortened license period means you've installed the license on a new computer, or at least it thinks you have.  If this happens when you are using the same computer as ever, it means the website figured wrong.

Normally the best answer is to just ignore its renewal-period magic and just refresh the license whenever it gives you the 2-weeks warning.  If this keeps happening to you, consider updating TypeWell (see http://kypstips.typewell.com/2009/04/update-typewell-for-free.html).  Newer versions are smarter about detecting a real machine change vs. an imaginary one caused by a Windows Update.
