Don’t want to use Everywhere everywhere? That’s ok!!
Sometimes you'll want to turn off Everywhere in certain places. For instance, perhaps the expansions get in the way in your checkbook program. You can control which programs Everywhere is "on" for by using the Ctrl-Space and Esc keys.
By default Everywhere is off in every program. The first time you install it, you must then press Ctrl-Space to turn on expansions whenever you encounter a program in which you'd like to use abbreviations. Once you've turned it on, Everywhere will remember to stay on, for THAT program, but it's still off elsewhere. So the first rule is to remember that you need to type Ctrl-Space to turn on expansions anywhere they aren't already on.
Sometimes the opposite problem occurs: Everywhere is on in a window and you need to turn it off. This can happen in your web browser, for instance, where you want expansions most of the time, but in some places it gets in the way. Just tap the Esc key to turn it off.
Note that once you turn Everywhere off by pressing Esc, it STAYS off in that program, until you explicitly type Ctrl-Space to turn it on again.
