things to consider when taking a new assignment

Good tips for newbies!

Before you take a new assignment with a school or agency, here are some questions you might ask:

• If I'm assigned to a class that's over an hour long, will I have a team? (TypeWell recommends teaming transcribers for classes over 1 hour.)  
• How long will I have to edit/polish the transcript before submitting it to you and/or the consumer?  
• What is your cancellation policy, if a student cancels services for a single class session? (It's reasonable to expect payment if you are given less than 24 hours' notice.)   
• What is your cancellation policy, if a student drops a course?
