recruiting excellent transcribers: memory and mental skills

Experience shows . . .

Consider candidates' ability to solve problems quickly and independently, and their ability to handle stress well.  People who are generally nervous or stressed with Life should not become transcribers.

An excellent service provider has the ability to concentrate deeply, and push distractions out of his or her mind.  Personal and family needs and concerns have to be kept out of one's thoughts while working.

The ability to get calm and focused is just as important as knowing how to use the abbreviation system.  A transcriber must have good memory skills, and must be able to access those memory skills by staying alert and attentive, no matter what else is going on.
